Community Coffee Hour: Thinking Outside The Note-Taking Box
Thurs Nov 16

$15.00

Thurs, Nov 16th, 2023 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM EST

When we interpreters think about note-taking, we imagine steno pads and pens. But the truth is, note-taking mostly involves our brain. attentive listening and analysis allow us to store information in our memory. As to how we trigger that memory? That’s up to us.

This month, join us for a conversation with Rafaela Freundt, an experienced trilingual community and conference interpreter. She is blind, which means she can’t use a notepad and pen to take notes, and yet she has exceptional skills in the consecutive mode. She is living proof that a piece of paper and a pen is not necessary for consecutive note-taking as long as we focus our energy accordingly and are willing to get creative about our memory tools.

Rafaela Freundt studied psychology in Peru, her home country, and then went on to earn a Master’s of Conference Interpreting from York University in Canada. For the last several years she has worked as a professional Community and Conference Interpreter. She was recently accredited by the Canadian Federal Government’s Translation Bureau. Her languages are Spanish A, English B and French C.

Send us your questions. There will be a Q & A after the conversation.

It’s just $15 to reserve your spot. Register today!

Please note that community events are about learning for the love of it! They are not pre-approved for continuing education credit and we will not be issuing certificates. A recording will be made available to all registered participants. All sales are final.
