“It’s the notes,” wails every interpreter ever. “I just can’t seem to read my notes.”
Sound familiar?
Here’s the thing. Good notes are there to remind you of what was just said. The problem? If you didn’t HEAR what was said, the notes won’t help. Before note-taking comes listening, and the skill of listening is an underdeveloped art these days.
In this workshop, we’ll explore strategies for maximizing our listening skills while interpreting in the consecutive (turn-taking) mode. Through drills, role play and hands-on exercises, we will integrate new resources into our toolkit. You will identify your strengths, weaknesses, and strategies for improvement. That way, you will leave this class ready to listen like somebody’s life depends on it, because that’s actually true.
Please note that all sales are final. Applications for continuing education are pending in multiple states. A recording of the class will be made available to all registered participants and may later be published to our On Demand page.
